Ricicletta: contributing to low carbon mobility

Aluminium is a permanent material that can be recycled over and over without losing its properties. Ricicletta® is a perfect example of this potential to reincarnate: 800 beverage are turned into a beautiful and lightweight aluminium bike!

We gave away a Ricicletta® to a lucky winner at our event on 27 April, Driving mobility to a low carbon future. We were pleased to present the bike to Alessandro Coda, Chief Technology Officer at CLEPA, the European Association of Automotive Suppliers.

With more than 250 participants and speakers from EU institutions, industry and academia, European Aluminium’s event explored lightweighting’s potential to reduce CO2 emissions in transport.

In addition to the debate, participants had the opportunity to experience lightweight aluminium solutions first-hand. From electric motorbikes to virtual reality cars to the Ricicletta®, the interactive Aluminium Playground brought the future of mobility to life.

Ricicletta® winner reacts

“I am delighted to have won a Ricicletta®. What a great bike! It’s light, stylish, and best of all, sustainable, as it is made from recycled aluminium beverage cans.

It is also an example of how to contribute to a low carbon mobility society and how Europe is maintaining its leading position in reducing CO2 emissions. Innovative solutions across all types of transportation and sectors show the benefit of the integrated approach to achieve this goal.”

Alessandro Coda, Chief Technology Officer, CLEPA
